Historic Curriculum Changes Begin
For over two years, the Asian Seminary has been preparing for the
historic changes in our curriculum. The first year was spent in an extensive
curriculum evaluation and review. The second year was spent finalizing the changes
and applying for accreditation approval. In May 2009, the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) of the Philippine Government officially approved our new curriculum!
The changes have now been fully implemented for the 2009-2010 school year.
The significant changes are as follows:
BA in Theology (new) - In place
of the Bachelor of Theology (BTh), we now offer a Bachelor of Arts in Theology
with 9 concentrations:
- Biblical Studies
- Theological Studies
- Pastoral Ministry
- Youth Ministry
- Children's Ministry
- Religious Education
- Mission-Intercultural Studies
- Church Music
- Counseling
B.Ed. (new) - In place of the
Bachelor of Christian Education (BCE), we now offer a Bachelor of Education
with 3 concentrations:
- Values Education
- Early Childhood Education
- Music
MA in Pastoral Ministry (new)
- Added to our existing MA in Christian Leadership, we now offer a Master of
Arts in Pastoral Ministry. Both of these skill-building master's degrees can
be taken with either a Thesis or a Non-Thesis tract.
M.Div. - Refining the existing Master of Divinity program,
we have included new electives and added 4 concentrations:
- Biblical Studies
- Theological and Historical Studies
- Missions
- Church Education
Along with these changes, ASCM continues to offer our Doctor of Ministry (DMin),
Master of Christian Leadership (MCL), and our certificate programs; Certificate
in Church Musicianship, Certificate in TESOL, and Certificate in Ministerial
Studies.
The faculty, staff, and administration of the Asian Seminary want to give thanks
to the Lord Jesus Christ for his guidance and direction throughout this difficult
process of change. We pray that God will be glorified and His Kingdom advance
through the students of the Asian Seminary. |
